Building Malaysia’s First Water University Ecosystem: Air Selangor Partners with UNISEL & STDC to Advance Water Sector Talent
Air Selangor has taken a significant step towards strengthening Malaysia’s water industry talent ecosystem through a strategic collaboration with Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) and Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC) to develop Malaysia’s first Water University ecosystem model. This collaboration programme forms part of the initiatives outlined in the Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC) signed by the three entities on 1 July 2025.
The launch ceremony for the collaboration programme was officiated by our Chairman YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor and CEO Adam Saffian Ghazali FCA, alongside YBhg. Professor Emeritus Ir. Dato’ Dr. Hassan Basri, President and Vice-Chancellor of UNISEL and Tuan Haji Mohd Nazri bin Noh, Chairman of the STDC Board of Directors.
The Water University model encompasses industry-based curricula, industrial training, competency certification, as well as upskilling and reskilling programmes. These initiatives will strengthen the capabilities of the industry’s workforce while setting a new benchmark for human capital development in the water industry.
The launch also celebrated the achievement of 138 Air Selangor employees who completed the Professional Certificate in Water Supply Management Technology in 2025 and 2026, reflecting our continued investment in strengthening workforce capabilities.
