Global Water Summit 2026: Air Selangor Shares Machine Learning & AI Innovations in Madrid
At the Global Water Summit 2026 in Madrid, Spain, our CEO, Adam Saffian Ghazali, participated in the exclusive Leading Utilities of the World (LUOW) workshop. This private, invitation-only working session brings together top executives from the world’s most progressive utilities to collaborate directly on urgent sector challenges like digital innovation, energy efficiency, and climate resilience.
During the workshop, Adam shared how Air Selangor is turning utility data into measurable operational impact through three core machine-learning use cases:
• Water Meter Replacement Prediction: Shifting from traditional age-based replacement to machine learning-driven “Degraded Meter” targeting to maximise water recovery and budget efficiency.
• Per-Customer Water Usage Prediction: Utilising AI-driven forecasting and automatic anomaly detection to proactively flag under-registered meters and catch hidden leaks early.
• District Metering Zone (DMZ) Legitimate Night Flow Prediction: Leveraging smart meter profiles to predict overnight water consumption across the network, separating real leakage from normal night use to sharpen our Non-Revenue Water (NRW) monitoring.
These case studies are the result of a powerful internal collaboration between our Digital and Analytics Centre (DAC) and Non-Revenue Water (NRW) department. We are proud to share our insights with this international audience, demonstrating how Air Selangor scales innovative technology to drive sustainable water management and contribute meaningfully to the global utility landscape.
