Water Theft: Air Selangor & SPAN Joint Enforcement operation in Kuala Lumpur
On 23 April 2026, Air Selangor acted on complaints of illegal water supply connections at a reputable building in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. A team consisting of 15 officers from Air Selangor (headquarters and Kuala Lumpur region) and the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) conducted an enforcement operation at the premises, during which an illegal connection was discovered. Air Selangor proceeded to permanently disconnect the connection and issued a notice of claim for water loss damages to the premise owner.
Illegal connections and water theft are against the law under the Water Services Industry Act 2006 (WSIA). The ongoing enforcement operation underscores Air Selangor’s continuous commitment to safeguarding a sustainable water supply for consumers across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya.
